Volume 458 is Blackwing’s tribute to birding. Twelve balanced graphite pencils, one gradient finish per design, drawn from four North American birds: the Clark’s Grebe, Mallard, Green Jay, and Black Rail.

The number 458 marks roughly how many migratory bird species pass through the U.S. and Canada each year, and it’s stamped in black foil on every barrel. Each 12-pack holds four designs, three pencils apiece.

Birding asks you to slow down and pay attention to what’s already around you, in parks, along waterways, in the backyard. This Volume is Blackwing’s way of celebrating that habit of noticing.
